Organizational Design for Creative Organizations.

IT'S NOT JUST PROCESS THAT CREATES CHANGE,
IT'S STRATEGIC SYSTEM THINKING.

Think OXD — the blending of user experience methods, design thinking and traditional OD (organizational development) to realign and design your internal organization. We help teams to build & leverage connections among the chaos  — so you can focus on the teamwork of creativity. We believe that how your organization operates is central to your mission.

FOCUS ON WHAT WORKS AND FILLING THE GAPS TO MEET YOUR STRATEGIC GOALS.

We work with you to generate understanding of the organization’s core values and objectives (and it’s perceived versus actual culture). We build strategies that position the organization for growth. We clarify roles, on all levels, and seek to show how they can evolve. Together we focus our time on creating and implementing action plans to increase efficiencies, improve systems, focusing on how to make the firm more profitable and efficient.

WE HELP YOU IDENTIFY AND ANALYZE WHAT MAKES YOUR ORGANIZATION SPECIAL.

It's not just about building process in your company, it's about creating an environment where people are engaged and creativity can happen. We look to realign the organization's values, build strong foundations, create quality communication and collaboration. We seeks to understand where you are now, what makes your organization special, why things are the way they are, what makes it run and what your hopes are for change now and in the future.

DEVELOP OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE.

Reach your agency's strategic goals by the creation of a solid operational foundation to build on. Makr can assess all aspects of your agency's creative and financial operations to gain an acute understanding of your agency and it's improvement opportunities. Our operations assessments lead a detailed gap analysis — the difference between what you do now and the ideal future state for operational performance. We cover overall firm strategy, organizational design, financial model, and personnel development.

CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION NEED A SUPPORTIVE STRUCTURE.

Building leaders are important to any organization, but it is equally important to build teams that can execute those ideas. Makr builds Makers — teams that can continue to grow and contribute to your organization. We use staring points in traditional, agile, lean project management and design thinking theory to develop methods of working that can grow with you.

BUILDING ADAPTABLE CULTURE, TALENT AND PROCESS THAT FITS YOUR NEEDS.

No agency is the same, and the systems (and practices) we develop and put in place are unique for you. We're here to help you develop the teams and culture that will move your organization forward. We understand the creative process — because we are makers too.

What is Organizational Design?

As the organization grows, it will often find itself facing new challenges, evolving the way it works to meet its new needs.

It can often be an ugly, ugly process. Old roles are morphed, some new hires stick, we lose others that may have been a part of what made the group special and the way the organization works changes. In the creative organization, we experience shifts all the time, new technologies, strategic theory, new media and content needs, can mean yet another reorganization.

Good organizational design, moves beyond shifting the lines and boxes in an org chart — it takes down the silos, fragmented processes and reporting structures that have evolved over time and recasts them into a viable model that allows for the richness of executing ideas and marketing objectives. It aligns the firm to efficiently and consistently deliver cohesive integrated multi-channel campaigns while preserving the important interaction that makes the organization creative and fun.

One size never fits all, but it does require looking at how people in the company make decisions, adopt new behaviors, reward performance, agree on commitments, manage information, make sense of that information and allocate responsibility.

Since every company is different, we work by a set of guiding principals, and shape our engagement appropriately. It starts with an operations assessment — to discover the big picture of why and how your organization works the way it does. We’ll work with you to uncover the root of operational pains, and develop an implementation plan to address capability gaps and improvement opportunities.

We’ll help your organization and marketing group to define objectives, goals, strategies and measures to ensure that the business is aligned top to bottom with strategic priorities. Together, we’ll create a new, cohesive framework — one that’s based on meeting your business objectives, while supporting what makes your organization unique, while freeing leadership to meet your long-term objectives.

Building capacity to innovate.

Organizations working in rapidly changing and competitive creative environments need to innovate. Many organizations often focus too heavily on technical implementation and completely ignore the unique human requirements that innovation requires, thus limiting their success.

Successful innovation requires new types of thinking, restructuring of roles, strong communications, and the ability to develop new products and services to meet client needs. This requires leadership (and teams) that not only understand these needs, but can implement changes to systems, attitudes, behaviors and client relationships. Makr works across the organization to help you build transformative change.
